Smokers Lines/Peri-oral Lines

Perioral (smokers) lines are the linear wrinkles which radiate out from the border of the mouth.

These lines are created through the activity of the underlying orbicularis orris muscle and the natural process of ageing with a loss of volume and elasticity in the skin around the mouth. Smooth Dimensions offer a treatment that will rejuvenate the perioral area of your face by injecting small amounts of dermal filler. The perioral area includes several features: both lips, upper lip area under the nose, nasolabial folds (‘smile lines’ or ‘laugh lines’), and the corners of the mouth. The appearance of these lines may be exaggerated through chronic sun exposure or smoking and certain individuals are shown to have an inherited predisposition to developing them. Small volumes of dermal filler can be used to reduce the appearance of perioral lines and also enhance the projection of the lips. This restores a fuller, smoother and more youthful appearance to the lower face which can also be supplemented by botulinum toxin (Botox).

Benefits
Why get treated

As well as softening facial lines, dermal filler stimulates your natural hyaluronic acid production, which acts as an internal moisturiser to hydrate your skin. Low-risk procedure — smile line fillers are safe and have few side effects. Some patients may notice slight bruising, redness or swelling at the injection site.

Frequently Asked Questions
faq

Does drinking water help with dermal fillers?
As part of your dermal filler aftercare we do recommend that you drink water. Drinking water can keep your skin hydrated and enhance the effect of hyaluronic acid fillers. After your treatment, we can also recommend skin care products that complement the effects of your result.

Is it safe to have treatment?
There is always a risk when having dermal filler injected, however the biggest risks occur from inexperienced injectors with poor knowledge of facial anatomy. Therefore, it is so important to ensure you have treatment carried out in an HIS registered clinic by a medically qualified experienced injector, who can deal with any complications and dissolve the product if necessary

Some swelling can be expected immediately (see our full advice here on lip filler swelling stages ) after the medical treatment. An ice pack can help with this, and the initial swelling will go down quite quickly. There may be minor soreness from the injections as the numbness from the topical cream wears off. Immediately after your treatment, you may have a small amount of bleeding and swelling. This is normal after skin tissue augmentations.
